Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity ReStore - Multiple Locations & Projects

The Habitat ReStore is a home improvement thrift store that sells donated new and gently used merchandise at a discount to the general public. All proceeds benefit Greater Indy Habitat for Humanity as it builds homes, communities, and hope for families in need of affordable homeownership.

There's always work to be done at the ReStore and every day is different! We receive donations of new and gently used household items, including cabinets, appliances, furniture, doors, building materials and more!

Types of Projects:

Some of our regular opportunities include things like organizing and sorting donations, assisting customers with purchases and/or loading their vehicle, processing drop-off donations, assembling lights/furniture/etc, riding along with our donation pickup team, and special projects as needed. The work we do contributes to building more homes for families in need in the Greater Indy area.

What to Expect:

There is a lot of heavy lifting involved since our donations tend to be large items like furniture and building materials. We recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and dress for the weather. It can often feel like whatever the temperature is outside due to opening large bay doors for donation drop offs and customers. Please keep in mind that all projects are subject to change based on current needs of the store.

Closed-toe shoes are required. All orientation, training, PPE, tools, and materials will be provided. You may bring a water bottle and snacks/lunch depending on the length of your shift.

All volunteers must be at least 16 years old to participate. Volunteers under 18 must have a parent or guardian present during their volunteer shift. Please plan to volunteer for at least 2 hours if you can't work the entire shift.

Please see all ReStore volunteer opportunities across Central Indiana listed below along with description of project to sign up.
